We Don't Just Sell These Supports, We Use Them Every Day
Little Supports 3D was created from our own family's journey.
We are a Queensland family raising three incredible children with disability. Our youngest son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at just two years old. At the time, he was non-speaking and had very limited communication. Like many families, we searched for practical supports that would help him communicate his needs and make everyday life a little easier. When we couldn't always find what we needed, we started creating our own communication tags and visual supports.
As our children have grown, our supports have grown with them.
Our daughter is verbal, but during periods of overwhelm or shut-down she can lose her ability to speak, move or communicate for hours at a time. During these moments, simple visual communication tags such as "I need space," "I'm overwhelmed," "Yes," and "No" allow her to communicate her needs when words are difficult. They also help the people around her better understand how to support her with patience and respect.
Our family's journey changed even further when our daughter began experiencing significant challenges at school. Together, we made the decision for Michael to leave his employment so she could be homeschooled in an environment that better met her needs. It was during this time that Little Supports 3D grew from something we created for our own family into a small family business dedicated to helping others.
Alongside our lived experience, we also bring years of professional experience supporting people with disability. This combination of professional knowledge and everyday lived experience helps us design supports that are practical, functional and easy to use in real life.
Every communication tag, routine board, check-list and sensory support we create has been inspired by experiences in our own home. These are the same supports we use at home, at therapy, in the community and throughout everyday life with our own children.
We also understand that visual supports are not an instant solution. Learning to use visuals takes time, consistency and individualised support. Every person communicates differently, which is why all of our communication supports can be customised to meet each person's unique needs.
Our mission is simple to create durable, practical communication and sensory supports that help people communicate, build independence and feel included because everyone deserves to have their voice heard, in whatever way works best for them.
Because everyone deserves the opportunity to communicate, participate, build independence and feel understood.
